International control of the AOVE cataloguing is increasing

After the known fraud in the cataloguing of some AOVEs, the international markets are strengthening control to show that these oils actually have all the physical, chemical and organoleptic properties that define them.

One of the best known cases still open today was the “Virginextra II” case investigated by EUROPOL and the Spanish Civil Guard, in which more than 24,000 litres of AO (olive oil) were imported and sold in Great Britain as AOVE (extra virgin olive oil).

After growing control by the international markets, Laboratorio Tello is constantly adding new analytical parameters (mainly pollutants) and also increasing the specialization of its team, including new qualified tasters in our ENAC-accredited test panel to provide a faster, safer and more reliable response to the growing international demand for authenticity and food safety controls.

At Laboratorio Tello, we have more than 25 years of experience in the olive sector and offer a wide technical scope accredited by ENAC, and recognised by companies such as C.O.I. (International Olive Council) for both physio-chemical and instrumental analysis.

Contact us and our team of experts will advise and guide you through the entire process:
