#WorkersWednesday Part 4

It’s #WorkersWednesday! This means every wednesday, an employee of the Tentamus Group is introduced in this category.

For today we chose to introduce Kaitlyn from Tentamus North America to you.

1. Please introduce yourself briefly and tell us in which department you work.

I am Kaitlyn Gerhart, a Chemist with a PhD from Georgetown University and a BS from Widener University.  My graduate work focused on the biophysics of intrinsically disordered proteins, and I gained experience in organic synthetic chemistry, biochemistry, and biophysics during that time.  I work predominantly in the reporting department of Tentamus North America – Fredericksburg but am growing into a program manager role.  I am transitioning into allergen and nutrition testing.

2. How does your daily workday look like?

I start my day by getting a cup of tea and then dive into which ever task requires the most attention that morning.  I spend most of the day determining what changes we can make to improve the workflow of the laboratory.

3. Can you remember your first week here? How did you find it at your new workplace?

I do remember my first week!  It was an adjustment for me because this was my first position after finishing graduate school.  I was unemployed for about a year prior to starting here and it was awesome getting started and interfacing with new people.

4. What do you like most about your job?

I love the people I work with.  They are spunky and fun to work with.  I enjoy observing the continual improvement that occurs as the laboratory grows and we expand into new testing.  Also, Tentamus Super Onesie Friday.

5. What would you tell potential applicants?

Tentamus North America is an awesome place to work with fantastic opportunities.  If you have drive and can show that you’re dedicated the management will help you grow and reach your goals.

6. What superpower would make your work more enjoyable?

Superhuman typing speed and organizational skills.
